First day's labor

The first day of work is always the hardest; trying to figure out who will be doing what and how that will happen. Fortunately, with returning players from last year's squad and a few new guys, we were able to get to business pretty quickly today. Having had to commute from Guatemala City, we got a little late start, but things rolled quickly from there. We were moving bricks, mixing mortar, starting to install electrical outlets in the third room.

Day one is about getting those muscles you only use when you are doing those kinds of activities acclimated to the bending and lifting and stretching. But, the day goes fast and we made some good progress on the room. We have the first set of bricks laid, something that did not happen until Wednesday last year. Of course, last year was a four wall room and this is just three walls. We are believing that we will be able to get all the brick work done by Thursday. That would be a great deal.

We will be working other projects as well, painting areas that need improving and some that are new and in need of the first coat.

One thing that stood out today was watching the kids. Although they were in classes and we were mainly upstairs, but they are so excited to see the guys working. what is exciting for us is to watch our own missionaries in action. I have to tell you the impact that Hector & Beatriz have on this place is awesome. They are teaching the kids English and they love showing it off to us. With all the changes in the school and its appearance, I believe they are gaining in their own confidence and really believing that God is working around them. I know they must sense the love these two pour out to them everyday. We can see it just in the one day we have been here. Please let them know how proud you are that they are from our church! All of us are.

Pictures were at an all time low today because we were working. I will try to do better in the coming days, as we are excited to show our progress.

Give Hector and Bea a big hug! God is using them (and you guys) well. We prayed for you before service on Sunday in AC and on the prayer chain, you are covered...
